Soprano Erika Harrington, on the faculty of Lone Star College-Kingwood, prepares for"A Stellar Evening" this Saturday at the Music Recital Hall. The performances by faculty members helps raise funds for student scholarships.

Todd Miller, the LSC-Kingwood Music Professor, Visual and Performing Arts Chair and director of choirs, said the 75-minute production features a cast that includes the faculty in the LSC-Kingwood Music Department Miller said the concerts began in 1996, shortly after the creation of the music department. At the time, there were only three voice majors. Today, the department boasts 70 music majors and more than 200 students and community members performing in eight different ensembles. In the early years there were only two or three faculty and now the program hosts 25 music department members.

“It’s not the stuffy, classical recital, and it’s in our recital hall which holds 120 people. So it’s a beautiful, intimate space to hear music,” he said. Butler said she may have to consider some of Borge's antics like a seat belt on the piano bench or playing the music upside down next year.
