Annie Wersching, best known for her role as Renee Walker on 24 and the Borg Queen on Star Trek: Picard, has passed away at the age of 45. Wersching began acting in 2002 at the age of 25, when she first appeared in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise as Liana. She would go on to act in over 40 television series, along with two film roles and two video games. Wersching first appeared on 24, a crime drama television series, during season 7 as FBI special agent Renee Walker.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY It has been confirmed by Deadline that Wersching has died at age 45 after a two-year battle with cancer. A GoFundMe page created to support Wersching's sons says that she kept her cancer diagnosis fairly private, and wanted to "live her life, on her terms, and be with her family." Wersching leaves behind her husband, actor Stephen Full, and sons Freddie, Ozzie, and Archie.
"There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall. As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie.
Wersching appeared in dozens of iconic television properties since 2002, including roles on Angel, Supernatural, CSI, and Blue Bloods. Alongside her major role on 24, she also held recurring roles on Bosch, Timeless, and Runaways. Wersching is also known for her key role as Lily Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, and Tess in the Last of Us video game, where she did Tess' voiceover work and performance capture.
Frequent television viewers have no doubt seen Wersching appear in at least one of their favorite series, and her passing is a painful blow to the industry. Audiences and industry professionals alike are mourning her loss and are encouraging others to support Wersching's family through the GoFundMe campaign. Whether she is remembered best as Renee Walker on 24, the Borg Queen on Picard, Tess in The Last of Us, or any of her other iconic roles, Wersching will be sincerely missed.
45 is way too soon to go. Rest is peace
