A running joke that the Dame wanted a date with the Bloodlands actor came true

A local pantomime Dame had her dreams come true this weekend as Northern Irish actor James Nesbitt made an appearance at the closing night of their show.

Portrush Theatre Company had been performing their run of Aladin at Portrush Town Hall from January 13 to January 21 when a very special guest popped in for a show they would never forget. The Bloodlands star rocked on stage with a box of chocolates and flowers for the Aladin panto Dame 'Widow Twankey' before sneaking a kiss to end the show in front of an excited crowd.A running joke throughout all performances of the pantomime claimed that Widow Twankey was desperate for a date with the NI acting legend who has his own ties to the Portrush area, having worked at the Big Dipper in Barry's Amusements in his teens.

Taking to social media, Portrush Theatre Company said they "could not be prouder of our dame, our wee town and amazing team" after the successful run of shows - including their special guest."Widow Twankey finally got that kiss from Jimmy Nesbitt.Nesbitt has been busy over the last number of days on his visit home as he has also been spotted recording The Whiskey 'n' White podcast with boxer-turned-comedian Tommy McCarthy and boxer Tyrone McKenna.
