King found when she received the script that there was “a lot to sink your teeth into,” and it was she who sent the script over to Sarafyan, a friend from an acting class with whom she’d here get to collaborate for the first time. The latter observed that “sometimes you do a movie and it looks like a set, and it looks like, ‘Oh, okay, we’re making a movie.’ But this had exactly what it needed to tell the story it needed to tell.
