What's it really like for commuters travelling from Leeds to Manchester? 🚝 Read more:

Transpennine apologised and said it was caused by "high levels of sickness and a training backlog"Statistics released by the company show that of 1,308 services scheduled from Monday to Thursday, 552 did not run.

Between Monday and Thursday, Transpennine Express cancelled 552 services of the 1,308 trains it runs across a three-route network The three-carriage service slowly made its way across West Yorkshire, predictably crowded with a mixture of students heading to college and longer distance travellers attempting to reach Manchester, Manchester Airport, Warrington and Liverpool.Heather said only one of five scheduled trains to Huddersfield was running on Thursday morning

Another passenger, Richard Smith, explained he had been using this route for 33 years and this is the worst he's ever seen it.

TPE not fit for purpose 😡

I can't help but think you've overlooked the absolutely shocking service between seemingly given Sheffield to Manchester.

TPEassist - was this the footage you didn't authorise the BBC to film onboard your trains?

I only go one stop from Stalybridge to Manchester and that is hard enough. I have commuted on trains from Stalybridge to McR for over 8 years and the service has never been as bad as it is now.

They should step back in time 50 years and try the Bradford to Manchester slow coach instead

Also explains why M62 is horrendous most days .....

Well done for highlighting. This has been going on for months. Don’t anyone be fooled into thinking it’s fairly recent and just part of industrial action. “This is the age of the train”…. correct…up here it takes an age to catch one.

The other really challenging shift is the strategic move to take most Leeds trains into Manchester Victoria rather than Picadilly as in the past. Means most connections need an additional trip across Manchester that they didn't before

GarethDennis It’s like this. Depressing.

EmInYorkshire Don't do it on a strike they the railway service is pathetic because of the stupid unions.

Negative_Ben yep

It's apauling but also, try Keighley to Bradford M606 Junction.
