Cardiff City tried to insure Sala for £20m the day after his death

Argentine player Sala, 28, was on a private flight from Nantes as he travelled to take up his new role with the club then in the Premier League.

Cardiff City FC is suing insurance broker Miller Insurance LLP claiming it owes more than £10m in a High Court bid. Alistair Schaff KC told the High Court that Cardiff City contacted insurers regarding Sala on 22 January 2019, the morning after his flight went missing off the coast of Alderney.Cardiff City claim Miller Insurance failed to properly explain the concept of an "insurable interest" for football player transfers and the requirement of a "prompt" notification of the transfer in order to secure coverage.

It claimed the broker had warned Cardiff City Football Club several times that there would be a gap in a player's insurance cover between acquiring an "insurable interest" in a new player and informing the insurer.

Cardiff clutching at straws end of day someone there dropped a massive ........

I’m no judge but “no one told us we had to insure people so that they were covered by insurance” does not seem likely to prevail

Still don’t get how he ended up on an uncle bobs scenic tours flight! People need jail for this

🙈🥴🫣

Disgraceful. That poor guy and his family. Treated him like crap.

Yea... that's called fraud.

If he was worth £20 million, Wtf didn't they fly him on a commercial jet Instead he was being flown by someone who didn't have the correct license in a plane filling with carbon monoxide!

That’s actual attempted fraud. The person responsible will be logged on the application and will be prosecuted if this is genuine.

BBC Claimed and Shamed vibes…

That’s not how insurance works. Nice try.

They've released a statement CardiffCityFC

Did they ever pay Nantes the transfer fee?

NOT a good look CardiffCityFC

😂😂😂 Fine when it’s a car or a dog but when it’s all over the papers, probably not going to work.

Now if it was the day before then we have a story.

Scumbags

Shameless.

Could be an administrative anomaly tbf to Cardiff City

That’s probably a bit late

Classy 🤢

Is this the same Cardiff who said 'always a bluebird' when the tragedy happened then tried everything they could think of to say he isn't a player ? Jesus wept. Some of the decision makers at Cardiff 🤦🏾‍♂️ isn't that fraud ?

Absolutely disgusting that is, however, given how they have behaved during the whole matter this comes as no surprise.

Playing devil's advocate, wasn't he identified a week after the crash or something? So, officially a day after the crash he wasn't 'dead'

Insurance fraud. Utter shameful.
