Screen Rant is proud to premiere an exclusive clip from the upcoming film, Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls. From the mind of Andrew Bowser, an 80s kid who loved all things fantasy and genre, the character of Onyx launched in 2012 and it quickly took off in viral videos leading him to be known as "The Weird Satanist Guy" or "The Weird Arby's Guy.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Marcus J. Trillbury , aka Onyx the Fortuitous, is an amateur occultist who is misunderstood both in his home and work life. He dreams of a fresh start, and when he receives a highly coveted invitation to the home of his idol Bartok the Great , he thinks that finally his dreams are being answered. Onyx joins the eccentric group of devotees surrounding Bartok and his mysterious delegate Farrah as they prepare for a mysterious ceremony.

In the film, Bowser takes his viral internet character to the next level. The film promises to expand on the internet sensation's homage to the genre in the 80s, full of absurdities and the celebration of the weirdos among us. Inspired by films like Ghostbusters, Gremlins, and Fright Night, Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls builds on themes of friendship while delivering laughs and scares in a magical story featuring terrifying monsters and just a little Satanic worship.

Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls will make its debut during the 2023 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The film will be part of the Midnight segment of the Festival, which promises a wide variety of films from comedy to horror that are sure to keep viewers awake at the small hours. Previous films in the category include the newly minted cult classic Mandy, starring Nicolas Cage, and the terrifying thriller The Babadook.
