The 34th annual desert festival wrapped up on Sunday and handed out its juried awards and announced that audience prizes were awarded to 'Of Medicine and Miracles' and 'Argentina, 1985.'

. “The filmmakers sensitivity to the subjects’ experience and their poignant capture of shifting tones is a superb use of the genre, resulting in a remarkable story profiling an enduring father-daughter bond exemplifying a social evolution,” per the jury statement.

Diana Cadavid, director of the LALIFF and the FICCALI, filmmaker Amir George and film festival programmer Robin Robinson served that jury.from director Fyzal Boulifa. The Ibero-American Award — presented to the best film from Latin America, Spain or Portugal — went to director Manuela Martelli’s. The Young Cineastes Award Anthony Shim’sDirty Difficult DangerousArgentina, 1985
