AlexpiersonAMP RIP Ian Tyson. 🙏 to his friends and family.
RIP Ian Tyson. One of Canada's great music, folk legends. A great Canadian, Alberta life lived. Four strong winds that blow lonely have more good company tonight in the Heavens.
And you lead The National with a Brazilian who died. You are the CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORTION!! Big mistake, oh wait, he didn't live in Toronto so it doesn't matter to the rest of Canada!! RIPIanTyson
AlexpiersonAMP RIP Ian Tyson. Many years of entertainment from Ian and Sylvia. 🙏
😢
Condolences going out for musician Ian Tyson. May he R.I.P.
Damn. Now we are down to three strong winds. woof
CBC WIll not REPORT COP KILLER on BAIL for gun crimes
First song I learned on the guitar. It was my introduction to folk music and had a profound impact on how I looked at music and what music could say about life, love and everything.
Ian and Sylvia - Four Strong Winds (CBC TV 1986)
One of my favourites 😢
May He Rest In Peace. Heaven was Blessed.
Navajo Rug Katie 😘 what a 🇨🇦 legend
ICON.
Sad, and yet 89 is a full life. It does bring tears to your eyes even though he wasn't half bad.
RestEasyLegend
Canadian musical legend. Rest easy sir.
So sad. I saw Mr. Tyson perform & met him once in Calgary. People always talk about Four Strong Winds, but my fave is Someday Soon (recorded in 1963, the year I was born). Here's a beautiful version by theploveless Kathy Mattea Clint_Black & John Denver
Hard to imagine in this day and age but in 1964, this was the entire list of famous Canadian musicians..... Paul Anka Ian & Sylvia That's it. That's the list.
Was so very fortunate to see the great IanTyson a handful of years ago at CityWineryNYC He put on a masterful performance & was so gracious in the autograph line. RIP to a canadian icon.
todallyanika Oh Ian, such a loss. God Bless. Four Strong Winds.
Saddened by the news. 😪 The Canadian folk and country legend's work Four Strong Winds is a song dear to many people, but especially Albertans. The edmsymphony had recently shared this beautiful work and unofficial anthem of Alberta.
RIP, Ian Tyson. I’ve been a fan of his since I first heard “Old Corrals and Sagebrush” in 1983 as an American undergrad at UofT. westernhorseman did a tribute article on that album’s impact on western culture; here is my letter to the editor in the July 2022 issue in response.

Loved his music
☹️☹️🙏🙏very sad news
I once visited Ian at his ranch near High River. Good company, funny, and a bit cantankerous (in a good way). He'd been a 'cowboy musician,' rather than a folk musician, for decades, and did a lot to chronicle that culture.
🇨🇦🎶 icon. Thanks for the music, Ian Tyson. May the 4 Strong Winds carry you safely on your journey.
Here's a link to Ian & Sylvia's 'Four Strong Winds' covered by BobDylan. RIP, Ian Tyson
What a lose. The best version, in my opinion, of his iconic song.
Summmer Wages 👍
Was a great country/rodeo dance music icon.
If SOME one famous Canadian musician just HAD to die this week, WHY couldn't it have been BRYAN ADAMS, instead? Life and fate are unfair.
Huge loss.
Rat's. There goes another part of our collective storytelling. Condolences to his whole family.
Damn..
RIP 😥
