Madosini suffered from a heart condition for several years and survived two Covid-19 bouts, her family shared, confirming she died after she was admitted to hospital on December 22.
The 78-year-old Madosini was well known for her love for music and artistry, which saw her exciting audiences across the world with traditional Xhosa instruments, including uhadi and umrhubhe musical bows as well as isitolotolo being her indigenous musical instruments of choice. The veteran's plight to have her own home came to the fore last year when musician Msaki urged other young musicians inspired by Madosini to help build her a home. This was after the Fetch Your Life hitmaker re-released Madosini's seminal work Power to Women last year so that younger audiences could also have access to the veteran's work.
