Oddly, Davis is a much bigger character than Houston’s volatile husband Bobby Brown and mom Cissy. Audiences won’t show up expecting a Whitney/Clive two-hander, but that’s basically what they get. . Early on as a rebel who refuses to wear dresses, she makes out with her best friend Robyn Crawford, played dweebishly by Nafessa Williams. The pair move in together, though the movie steers clear of the bedroom.

Ppl are complaining about where she's from, but I wouldn't care if she was from Timbuktu AS LONG AS SHE LOOKED LIKE WHITNEY and could emulate Whitney's mannerisms to the capital T. The actress is a beautiful woman but looks NOTHING like Whitney and that alone turned me off.

i disagree with the review. Don’t listen to this guy. Reviewer is a curious millennial looking for dirt. I didn’t go for that. Everyone already knew the story. I prefer to focus on the great voice and character Whitney was. And that was portrayed in the movie.

Because Hollywood hired a Black Brit who knew little about Whitney, her life nor her mannerisms instead of a Black American actress who would know Whitney and how she behaved, moved and talked better. Stop outsourcing films celebrating Black Americans to Black foreign actors.
