A report by Stratum and Digbee shows that gender is considered the “least important” social priority for mining companies over the next two years.

The mining industry shows a lack of focus on gender and diversity in their environmental, social and governance strategies, aBased on a survey of global mining sector decision-makers, the study deems “concerning” such an overlook in an industry that “needs to change the perception that mining is a male-only environment.”According to the analysis, the issue is deemed the “least important” social priority for mining companies over the next two years.

Tackling climate change and biodiversity loss comes later on the list of ESG factors for many mining businesses. For the rest, the biggest drivers for ESG are industry expectations , pressure from stakeholders, investors and NGOs , international standards related to ESG and sustainability , and regulatory requirements .
