If Netflix is going to render obsolete something it's going to be TV.

What’s a movie theater?

to see entertaining films with a crowd of strangers and enjoying a shared experience.

Movie theaters and shitty unoriginal writing is what's killing movie theaters.

ТРАМП ЛЮБИТ РОССИЮ

Netflix is really lacking when it comes to movies these days.

I enjoy the theaters but you can buy the movie for much less than the cost of taking your family and with a 70 inch high definition tv at home the viewing experience is pretty good.

The movie theater killed itself with unnecessary price gouging.

went to see 'Widows' yesterday in a theater, the first time been in a theater this year. What was great was that a story was completed in two hours None of the slow meandering of many of the 'box set ' tales

In fairness the crimes of grindlewald was a woeful movie. And two weeks after a movie hits you can source it online. At least Netflix has a revenue stream.

The overall box office number is misleading. Netflix, RedBox and the like are dampening the smaller level films. If there isn’t a “have to see on the big screen” and/or a social push to see a film sooner rather than later, people don’t. Top 5 films = 25% of domestic box office

It would if they had better movies. 😕

Overpriced snacks, somebody talking every five seconds, cant pause it, I AM CHOOSING netflix over the movies.

people actually like to leave their homes occasionally.

Movie theaters have been shrinking audience for decades now, compensating by adding ‘features’ and raising prices. They’ve been successfully competing with better and better home entertainment for a long, long time. As long as going out to a movie is an event, they’ll be fine.

'What are they coming out for?' Grammar check, please.

You haven't seen BirdBox

The people who go to movies theatres are killing them. So many inconsiderate oafs.

The prices for tickets and concessions are what’s killing it

Might be

No, shitty superhero movies are ruining the movie theater. Enough already.

With lousy productions?

Dumb article. Not a real story.

Netflix isn't killing movie theaters: The audience who streams more, also goes to cinemas moreWhile the rise of streaming services have fundamentally altered how consumers watch TV, the idea that if audiences are spending more time watching content at home, they are spending less time at theaters is a myth. Cinemas are about the experience! Collective Shared Experience! A comedy movie feels more funny in a cinema than at home! Cinema amplifies the emotional effects of a movie! Still steams in the link No shit. What’s killing the cinema is a lack of new ideas, being out of touch with their audience and price. The movie “Little” shouldn’t be the same price as “The Avengers: end game.” That’s like paying a flat rate for a cart of groceries instead of paying per item.
