Alexandra Pelosi has filmed her mom at work as the Democratic leader and House Speaker for three decades. “I didn’t make this movie for Washington,” she tells VF.

You can watch in the very beginning when I'm filming her and I'm trying to get her to talk to me and she's like, ‘I'm a workhorse, not a show horse.’ If you want to get to know Nancy Pelosi, you just have to watch her work. I try sometimes to ask her questions, but she doesn't stop what she's doing and turn to me and say, let me just tell you how I'm feeling in this moment, because that's not who she is.

In the movie, there’s that moment where you say to your mom, “You’re always on message, there’s no cracking you.” I feel like that’s a commonly held feeling toward politicians. I grew up two steps behind Nancy Pelosi, so I see how people behave in front of her and then I get to hear everything they say behind her back. So I get it. I'm a human who lives in the world, but she's a human who lives in the world, too. I think some people don't see that. She's not a cartoon character. People think politicians are these sort of...they don't understand that that's who they are in their soul.

Generational narcissism.

“What It’s Like to Be Nancy Pelosi? Not working for the people.

Do we get to see how Pelosi amassed a $2 million fortune while working in public office?

Taking narcissism to new levels. At our expense.

2/2. “My father now says, that's not fair, you can't say that to your mother; you have to say, if it happened today.” The many sacrifices made by the families of those who choose public service should never be understated.

1/2. Nancy Pelosi asked her youngest Alexandra, when she was 16 yrs. old, if she could run for Congress. “When I was sitting w/my dad in the ICU, I was like, if I knew then what I know now, I never would've given you my permission to run.”

Maybe Nancy guessed when she saw the cameras. 😎

Gross

All in the family. Just like Christine in the DNC.

She’s right. It’s for nobody

Does the movie show us how she amassed a $200 million fortune while in public office?
