Spencer has earned the 2,742nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Other recent recipients have included Billy Porter, Angelica Vale, Salt-N-Pepa and Jefferson Airplane.
Spencer’s star, recognizing her film work, will be located at 6623 Hollywood Blvd., in front of Ballet Hollywood. She’ll be present for an unveiling set for 11:30 a.m. PT on Dec. 8, joined by actors Will Ferrell and Allison Janney. Lupita Sanchez Cornejo of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will emcee the ceremony. The event will be livestreamed on theSpencer -- a Montgomery native and graduate of Auburn University -- has earned acclaim for work in movies and television.
Spencer’s long list of credits includes roles in “The Shape of Water,” “Hidden Figures,” “The Witches,” “Green Book” and “Snowpiercer.” She wasin 2020, for her starring role in the Netflix series “Self Made: Inspired By The Life Of Madam C.J. Walker.” “Octavia Spencer is one of Hollywood’s most captivating actresses, appearing in many films that have endeared her to fans from around the world,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in a prepared statement. “Octavia has won many of the entertainment world’s most coveted awards for her work. We are thrilled to give her the only award that can be shared with her fans, as they pose with and touch her star once it is added to our iconic sidewalk.
The Walk of Fame is located on Hollywood Boulevard, from N. Gower Street to La Brea Avenue, and on Vine Street from Sunset to Yucca streets. Other Alabama people on the Walk of Fame include Lionel Richie, the Alabama band, Tallulah Bankhead, Jim Nabors, Hank Williams and the Temptations.
