'This season is about learning to accept our version of womanhood, whatever that may be, instead of what society dictates,' the show's creator, Tracy Oliver, exclusively tells BAZAAR.

The series, helmed by Tracy Oliver , follows the friendship of Camille , Quinn , Tye , and Angie as they navigate their early 30s in Harlem. Love, heartbreak, infidelity, sexual questioning—the show touches on all these topics, and its hilarious yet thoughtful approach to the nuances of Black womanhood has made it a hit with audiences and critics.combined with the over-the-top drama of if-you-know-you-know television favorites such as.

"Thematically, this season is overwhelmingly about Black joy and finding our happiness in the little things in life and learning to accept our version of womanhood, whatever that may be, instead of what society dictates," Oliver tells. "There's lots of fun adventures in Season 2, but the one I'm most excited about is our girls go to Puerto Rico for a girls trip.

"Just by calling it a 'girls trip,' I was definitely making an obvious nod to my movie," she adds. "But as far as what happens on the trip, we creatively did our own thing, and it tonally leans into fun, but also the cathartic, soul-cleansing aspects of traveling to a new place."'s premiere last year, the series has become a favorite—especially on Twitter, where viewers have praised its honest approach to Black womanhood and the chemistry between the cast members.

"Twitter is both exhilarating and frightening as a creator. I say that because you are reading everything that resonated with people and made them laugh or cry, but also you're reading everything they hated as well, which can be tough," Oliver explains. "But ultimately, it's a beautiful thing to release something and have an opportunity to stoke conversations and inspire watch parties and bond with others you don't know online over a scene or a character.

"The great thing this season is that we continue to follow the characters on their career paths, but also leave room for them to make changes. We'll see Angie still pursuing a career as an actress, but this time struggling through a Christmas movie rather than a play," Oliver says. "Camille has to find a new path after blowing up her relationship with Dr.
