People who attended the Spilt Milk festival in Canberra last weekend have been asked to monitor for symptoms of meningococcal. 9News

ACT Health issued an alert on Saturday afternoon after a person who is currently in Canberra Hospital attended the festival.

Anyone who attended the event at Exhibition Park on Saturday, November 26 should be aware of the symptoms and act immediately if they appear.ACT Chief Health Officer Dr Kerryn Coleman said that although meningococcal disease is uncommon, it can be severe and lead to life-long complications or death. "One of the more well-known symptoms is a rash but this may not be present at all, or may come very late in the illness" Coleman said.
