The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power actor Benjamin Walker teases what Gil-galad's future holds in upcoming seasons of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings prequel. Walker first portrayed the last Elven High King of Ñoldor in season 1 of the series inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Speaking exclusively to Screen Rant, Walker teases what's in store for Gil-galad in the upcoming seasons of The Rings of Power.
Here's what I can say. If you're familiar with the legendarium, you know that we got a long way to go, and he's very much a part of that. It's so frustrating, because I want to just talk to you about it. [Laughs] Yeah, you're gonna be very happy, it's exciting stuff, and I'm very excited to do the things that I get to do.
However, The Rings of Power season 1 concluded with the formation of Mordor and the reveal that Galadriel's human ally Haalbraand was Sauron in disguise, it is clear that war with the Dark Lord's gathering forces will soon arrive.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1 introduced audiences to an ensemble cast spread across multiple storylines, including Galadriel's hunt for Sauron, Elrond's appeal to the Dwarves, and Daniel Weyman's Istari stranger landing in Middle-earth. As such, characters who would play a key role in later events, including Gil-galad and Isildur, took on smaller roles while the series set up the world and conflicts of the Second Age.
I am familiar with the legendarium and ROP skips over most of the Second Age. The rest is condensed into a period of (possibly far) less than 200 years. That somewhat limits Gil-galad's role in the show.
The first episodes were so awful the majority don't give a fig.
