Does the Steam Deck's emulation potential have Nintendo on edge?

One of Josh's first memories is of playing Quake 2 on the family computer when he was much too young to be doing that, and he's been irreparably game-brained ever since. His writing has been featured in Vice, Fanbyte, and the Financial Times.

He'll play pretty much anything, and has written far too much on everything from visual novels to Assassin's Creed. His most profound loves are for CRPGs, immersive sims, and any game whose ambition outstrips its budget. He thinks you're all far too mean about Deus Ex: Invisible War.

Steamgriddb isn’t even a rom hosting site. Its just artwork for people to put into their libraries of certain games whether it has official artwork or not. Its the same as going to google images and saving an image. 300 IQ.

It should, but it won’t. I would happily trade my switch and all my games for a steam deck. Even toss in a few dollars. I’ve been disappointed with my switch thru and thru. instead of putting money into R&D they used a 2015 tablet soc and bought copyrighted lawyers.

Nintendo is like Disney when it comes to copyright. They know emulation wasn’t something they would be able to stick steam with. Nintendo just does want their image stolen that is legally protected. But idgaf I have a special wallpaper on my steam deck. ✌️

I don’t know why Nintendo keeps their games on their own system. It’s not like it’s helping them any. They’re behind in hardware, games, creativity. There’s nothing that interest me.

Nintendo is pretty much the only company left who is stuck in the past. Their own game dev's as well as partners for IP's are made to work on ancient hardware destroying as real developer vision on how they want a game to look by not bringing their games to PC.

Probably not

I would happily buy all of Nintendos back catalogue through Steam for my Steam Deck. They really should consider selling their older games that way.

No, Nintendo fans will buy a shitbox if it had Nintendo logo on it for $500

If Nintendo could make a Sega of himself and focus 100% on games while leaving the hardware to Microsoft and Sony, no one would be mad.

How about Nintendo stop selling defective contorller that break at anything

I really wish Nintendo would just make a normal console again. The GameCube was amazing and I would love for them to give something like that another go. Do it right and we may even see the rise of a new middle market.

It should. I said from the day the Switch was announced that it wasn't innovative enough and that other companies would top it. Gee, I was right. No one has topped the 3DS yet though. Sure, other consoles have more processing power, but none have glasses free 3D & 2 screens.

Common Nintendo L

That's their stupidest DMCA yet.

No reason to own a Switch anymore. Nintendo had their chance to make a more powerful system. 🤷‍♂️

Nintendo reached a new low. Artwork? Come on guys 🤣

The Steam Deck is a wake up call to traditional handhelds, it’s showing that to stand out you need to bring a truly special piece of hardware or exclusive titles to make it more appealing than the Deck.
