Without the addition of new generation capacity immediately, the decline of Eskom will continue and probably accelerate. The only hope is the introduction of new capacity, says the power utility. | CowansView

South Africa will face near continuous load shedding for at least the next two years while 6 000 MW in planned private sector projects to generate electricity from solar and wind are built and commissioned.

Eskom's decline, meanwhile, has reached what some are calling"breaking point", with a record R12 billion spent on diesel to run the utility's open cycle gas turbines since 1 April. The older, unreliable coal stations in Eskom's fleet cannot be fixed properly without the additional capacity that has been called for since December 2019.Get 14 days free to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism. SouthAfricansP1 CowansView Blax pipo must stop stealing electricity and cables, and municipalities must start paying Eskom, not stealing the money, then Eskom might be able to keep the lights on.

CowansView White privilege. They will never touch that useless white man.

CowansView We can't rely on Eskom management. They are the problem and not the power stations.

CowansView South Africa is losing R300 billion to corruption every year through government and entities like Eskom. They are asking for another increase of over 30%. Put some lube on your grocery list. We all getting screwed...

CowansView You mean inability

CowansView This is lies! Apartheid SA built world class electricity generation facilities, only they can make pronouncements. They know the capacity and and the longevity of these facilities. Stop feeding us lies because you want to steal under the veil of renewables.

CowansView Andre de Ruyter was foolish to accept the job at Eskom, it is comparable to becoming captain of the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.

CowansView Eskom_SA You don't say. Stating the obvious again...

CowansView Imagine if I went to work and said to my boss that they couldn't rely on or expect me to do whatever my job is bc... reasons How long do you think I'd be employed thereafter?

CowansView 1st step, get an intelligent, honest, appropriately qualified CEO, not this one with car washing bugging devices bull stories...

CowansView Wawfica usebenza njalo lowo eskom asekhuluma kanje ngawo

CowansView Stop supplying electricity to municipalities and individuals who don’t pay. With immediate effect.

CowansView My question is why have we not built more supply long ago? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

CowansView Load shedding can end if Soweto pay their bills

CowansView Or stop decommissioning power plants that are operational 🤡🌍

CowansView No other way but to outsource is such a neoliberal mindset.

CowansView It's always amazing how 'adding capacity' always translates into shedding employees & privatisation, real amazing that ...

CowansView So where are billions currently going

CowansView I think it’s FOOLISH to expect that these WHITE males who I think CANNOT possibly believe in state ownership of anything are going to do justice to this utility👀.CADRE DEPLOYMENT (capable cadres) is IMPORTANT as you’ll be deploying folks who believes in a DEVELOPMENTAL state.

CowansView 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 Its because of incompetence they dont know how to run Eskom only to steal and lie

CowansView 50GW installed vs 34GW peak demand...not a capacity problem...

CowansView Didn’t they decommission power stations in Mpumalanga for God knows what

CowansView Why can’t you call out the incompetence of the ceo? Is it because he is white?

CowansView Fire De Ruyter and watch the problems go away🤞🏾

CowansView How is the media allowing this man to say this. Eskom has enough capacity to meet demand. This man had one task, that was to recover the coal stations and stabilize the grid when he took over in 2018. Instead the grid has deteriorated under his watch.

CowansView Lol this statement is hilarious, 'Without the addition of new generation capacity immediately' so basicly saying we need the impossibe to happen to avoid a total blackout? We need to build powerstations like the Chinese built hospitals during covid at this point to survive.

CowansView 1. Hire competent staff, irrespective of RACE 2. Build NUCLEAR. It IS clean power 3. FIRE incompetent staff and those who sabotage 4. END/CANCEL contracts/vendors that are clearly corrupt. There are so many obvious ones still in force

CowansView So then break the fucking monoploy

nickhedley CowansView The ANC is the disease. Loadshedding is a symptom. If you want to cure South Africa, address the disease, eliminate it, then address the symptoms systematically. The sabotage at Eskom is a result of internal ANC factional battles. Take them out so they have nothing to fight for.

CowansView Please fire this Ffff Why is he still there? Eskom_SA

CowansView In INDIA: India has installed 50 GW (more than SA's entire coal network) of solar since 2016 In SAfrica: 'crickets' 🦗🦗🦗

CowansView Did a mensa committee come up with that conclusion?

CowansView CEO and COO of eskom are not there to fix eskom, but to distroy it and enrich their friends and ANC politicians. Who supplies diesel at eskom and their relationship with politicians?

CowansView 14 years and here we are.

CowansView We been hearing the same BS for 20 years but nothing has been done.

CowansView Stating the obvious. Well done.

CowansView Wonder if this have anything to do with our current issues.

CowansView This country is cursed by the ancestors... Period

africaupdates CowansView We have enough capacity, all we need is a competent leadership that will prioritize maintenance.

CowansView Instead of pumping billions into Eskom_SA use that money to subsidize consumers for solar installations. Ease the load on the power grid. Sell the excess back.

CowansView No not breaking point it is broken! It is unfixable! Stop lying it is over for Eskom! RIPEskom

CowansView It's the new dawn and nobody is to be blamed except for people who stopped loading, how nice it is to them.🤣👍

CowansView Eskom_SA Weet definitief hoe om ń mens se moermeter te pomp 😡🤬

CowansView Gwede must be going mad.

CowansView French Revolution, head chop them all

CowansView Hello africans i need donation please i have to attend a graduation ceremony at Johannesburg please at Johannesburg please and i have no money can anyone please bless me with a bus ticket from bloem to Johannesburg

CowansView It's unfair that major factories do not get load shedding like everyone else. What is fair is that they pay a premium to have the load shedding minimized. Although electricity contribute to the cost of goods, but it's the huge executive salaries that contribute the most

CowansView Put the fucking reactors back on
