In her parents’ minds, she was going to become an attorney, an architect, or a teacher. “I didn’t get into the business because I was some great beauty,” she says. “A lot of people are in the business because they were the prettiest girls at their high school or whatever, and it’s like, ‘What are you going to do? Of course you’re going to be in front of the camera!’ I had a very different journey to getting here. I’ve always felt: Am I really doing this? Is this really my job?
