The West Coast will benefit from a large dome of high pressure helping to provide clear skies for the Leonid meteor Shower. However, much of the U.S. is facing cold temperatures that will make sky gazing a winter sport.

Another snag for sky gazers is that peak meteor activity happens near dawn at 6 a.m. EST. Sunlight will quickly wash out any chance of seeing a shooting star. Don't worry, there is still plenty of time overnight to spot some meteors.Western and northern New York and will continue through the end of the week. It will be bitterly cold, so not ideal for sitting outside patiently waiting to spot a meteor or two.
