With Adams’ name in the credits, this is a musical with plenty of crossover appeal, of interest to rock-music fans as well as film buffs, Broadway devotees and even fashionistas, who will be tickled at the recreation of some Roberts’ most memorable on-screen outfits, including the cutaway dress, thigh-high boots and prim suitdress of lead character Vivian.
He’s no Adams, but handsome Pascal definitely nailed the role of Lewis, whose character evolves from ruthless corporate shark to Shakespeare-spouting dreamer, with a standout solo performance of the soul-searching ballad, Freedom.
To musical theatre buffs, this is quite funny. Ms. Saxburg doesn’t seem to know that Adam Pascal is Broadway gold. When it comes to musical theatre, I would say that Adams is no Pascal! He’s had the male lead role in Rent, Chicago, Memphis, Cabaret, Something Rotten…
The audience was not excited about Adam Pascal possibly being Bryan Adams or him bearing a small resemblance (in that they are both blonde and have that Rocker vibe🤷🏼♀️) People who fork out to see musicals would be aware that Pascal is 90s Broadway royalty.
