The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is turning 100 this week and it’s bigger than ever, as it welcomes visitors in person for the first time since 2019.
“The Royal really is about traditions. It’s about family connections and connecting with the community,” he said. “So being able to do that in person for our 100th is great.” While the first fair was initially set to take place 1921, delays in the construction of the Coliseum livestock arena, built just for the occasion and still used today, pushed the inaugural show back one year. The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair kicked off in 1922, earning the seal of approval from King George V of England to add the “Royal” prefix.
Boo. So sad for the farm animals.
