A pop-up version of voting, a Flex Voting Center, launches at Homeboy Industries

Shavon Walker took his time and looked over his choices carefully as he stood behind one of the two pop-up voting booths at Homeboy Industries’ headquarters in Chinatown Wednesday, Nov. 2. “This is important,” he responded to a friendly “what’s taking so long” from a friend standing nearby.

It will shut down after a day at Homebody, and join 30 teams setting up “flex” instant voting centers across L.A. County, officials said. Flex Voting Centers are mobile voting centers that show up at locations throughout Los Angeles County, giving people a chance to vote who may otherwise have a difficult time.
