The A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art in Trinidad might be far from your own backyard, but its new exhibition, opening this weekend, isn’t just a show of the usual Western art, though it does includes images of cowboys, horses and, most likely, a cow or so. The difference is in its choice of artists, many of them being local, contemporary and not necessarily interested in Western art as their artistic niche.
