, “Vancouver is now a police state,” because Sim wants to increase the size of the Vancouver Police Department by a mere seven per cent . And in perhaps the most extraordinary accusation of all, Sim was painted as an upholder ofOne tries to find polite language to describe such accusations. “Deranged” is, I think, as clean as it is possible to keep it. But such deranged thinking does have its benefits.
Were Sim of the correct political persuasion — that is to say, left-of-centre — there would be no end to the cooing about what his victory represents. Instead, left-wing extremists and ideologues have decided he is a fascist or a representative of systematic racism because he tacks slightly right in his political views and got an endorsement from theSadly, once powerful words to denote the very worst of society and humankind have become so overused as to be meaningless.
Such disturbing views can only be held when one does not see race as an immutable fact, but an identity wherein certain races or sexual orientations have characteristics that can be set out in. Individuals can then be unhelpfully described by these alleged features. Sim challenges those views and is therefore painted as a danger, or a traitor.
Stereotyping in this way is perniciously used to diminish accomplished members of formerly disadvantaged groups who have even slightly conservative views. In the eyes of woke left factions, the only possible reason visible minorities could hold such beliefs is that they have assimilated the power structure of whiteness.
However, one of the refreshing elements of Sim’s landslide victory was that it was a clear repudiation of a city hall that was hellbent on being as woke as possible and using Twitter as its policy guide. In the end, it turns out that people in Vancouver are far more worried about getting stabbed than they are about the vague implications of climate change.
If you voted keep talking. If you didn’t shut your tweet holes
'Champagne salesman writes.'
. . seems to me it's the that is ( not so subtly ) forcing the 'fascist' tag into the conversation . . has the Sun taken DavidEby's unusual endorsement of KennedyStewart as a veiled threat ?
The left has transitioned from support of working people into militant activists, from cop-hating drug sympathizers to LGBTQ2S+ (whatever the hell that is) all reeking of neo-marxism and gender dysphoria. We just want someone to run the damn city properly
HE'S NEITHER!! HE'S TRYING TO FIX VANCITY. To the critics, you think you cam do a better job? You should have ran for Mayor then smh
The last election weren’t a reflection of my views. So what. The people have spoken. They’re sick of wokeness. We’ve had enough. We won.
This is the ugly dark side of the progressive left. When they lose, they turn into terrorists with their language calling those who defeated them even democratically far right fascists and other dirty words!
Although that is true, reality looks different from their perspective.
Just someone willing to do make the difficult decision to clean up the city. Vancouver should be grateful of the new direction the city is taking ... unless Vancouver wants to be like Seattle, the downtown core has turned into a dump...
That is the lefts default narritive
Yeah a millionaire whose campaign was paid for by a billionaire who wants more cops couldn't possibly be fascist
Most people didn’t vote. The problem with voting is the government always wins.
The left has gone too far left
Ppl don’t even bother voting. He is not the leader of a majority of ppl. He is a winner because there has to be one.
Fascist? Who said that, some nobody on social media? LOLOL
You’d think the way some “progressives” are talking, Vancouver has just elected Donald Trump for mayor.
JohnnyUtahVan He's CCP:
Life long leftist. In 2022 I changed sides because of how I felt the left was evolving for the worse. I’m certainly not alone in this swap. We will see this fallout in 2025.
That’s the word they use for anyone who won’t let them have all the drugs that they want and have a free hand at crime.
I find it so funny when election pundits, post election, ever refer to a win as a clear anything within the LMD of BC. With turnouts hovering at 30%, no win is ever a clear sign of residents wishes. If anything, it’s a clear sign that elections are seen to be abysmal failures.
Thank you for telling the truth
Isn't that always the zenith of their lucid analysis? Smear, smear, smear.
