The embattled Yagan Square in the heart of Perth's entertainment precinct will undergo a multi-million dollar overhaul after being branded by previous tenants as a white elephant.

abc.net.au/news/yagan-square-to-be-redeveloped-into-five-level-hospitality-venue/101540896The WA government will spend millions of dollars on a five-level hospitality venue in an effort to breathe life into the embattled Yagan Square in the heart of Perth's nightlife precinct. It will undergo an $8.

which was described by previous food vendors last year as a "white elephant" when it failed to live up to expectations as the crowing jewel of the CityLink projectAn $8.4 million redevelopment of the existing site will include a "family-friendly" pub on the ground level with a playground, two restaurants, alfresco areas and a rooftop tavern. The venue aims to "open up" Yagan Square.

Lands Minister John Carey defended the decision to contribute $5.4 million of taxpayers' money towards the project."We need to drive vibrancy and life into Yagan Square, so we are not investing in a private company, we are actually investing in a public facility so that it works."What we're trying to do is open up Yagan Square...The alternative is it sits there, it remains vacant, people walk by.

The government is paying for it FMD these people are clowns

Start by renaming it, bad vibes naming it after a killer, and acts as a magnet for aggro abusive drunks and bums.

A different plan-approach to the 1st design might’ve seen Yagan sq directly face & activate the beautiful inside walls of the bridge New buildings could have been to the west & south Yagan Sq access from the NE, NW & S would have enlivened it This throws good $$ after bad 😡

Yet the pilbara towns that provide most of WA's revenue get neglected.

Waste of money.
