Jon Stewart did what his friend Dave Chappelle has refused to do: apologize for his “reductive” punchlines and attempt to redeem himself.

He does not speak for the entire comedy community. There are NO sacred cows. EVERYONE is fair game to be made fun of.

Are they exempt from jokes now?

Jokes are subjective, if you get offended by them don't listen anymore. You aren't forced to. I'm fat and fat jokes are hilarious to me.

I don’t think Jon or any comedian should be forced to apologize for making a joke. If he voluntarily does so, because he personally thinks what he said is wrong, that’s cool and good for him. I know the trans community will appreciate it. Takes balls to admit you were wrong.
