While most of the original cast are confirmed to be back, creator Dan Harmon sounds doubtful about Chevy Chase returning for the upcoming Community movie. First airing in 2009 on NBC, Community follows the misadventures of a study group at Greendale Community College, led by former lawyer Jeff Winger . The show was a hit with critics and fans alike, but low ratings ultimately led to its cancelation after season 5.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Few details are known regarding the plot of the upcoming Community movie, but Harmon has previously been confirmed to be penning the script. McHale's Jeff, Alison Brie's Annie, Gillian Jacobs Britta, Danny Pudi's Abed, Ken Jeong's Ben Chang, and Jim Rash's Dead Pelton are all confirmed to return, but that still leaves the beloved Greendale study group short a few members.
“I don’t even know if it’s legal for him to come back. That may be out of my hands. There may be something I sign for with an insurance company. I really don’t [know]. I’m working with Andrew Guest [on the script] who was a great Community writer. He wrote the Dungeons and Dragons episode. He’s going to help me to make sure I don’t pull a ‘Harmon’ when that script is getting executed so that we can actually deliver it and start shooting it. We don’t have a director attached and that’s about it.
Why Did Chevy Chase Leave Community Chase was a well-known comedy actor long before he joined the cast of Community, having starred in the likes of Caddyshack and National Lampoon's Vacation, in addition to his time on Saturday Night Live. Throughout his tenure on Community, however, it was widely reported that Chase didn't get along with Harmon or many of his co-stars and just generally didn't seem like he wanted to be a part of the show.
Considering Pierce is dead within the show and Chase's history with Harmon and his co-stars, it seems very unlikely the actor will return in any capacity for the upcoming Community movie. Pierce previously appeared as a hologram during season 5, however, and Community has gone to some wacky places in the past, so anything is possible. While Chase may be unlikely to return, many fans are likely hoping the same can't be said for Glover and Brown.
Erm i think people have missed the point here. There's real world legal issues here that probably stop chevy chase starring in it.
Are we pretending that it wouldn't be completely in character for him to fake his death just to see how people reacted to the news/reading of his will? I get the problems he caused, and he probably has no interest in coming back, but I wouldn't say no to one more piece of Pierce.
Why are people even asking. His character was killed off. No other resurrected show is concerned with bringing back characters that died in earlier seasons.
Isn’t his character dead?
