A Hokes Bluff man faces up to three years in prison after being found guilty of four federal charges for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Russell Dean Alford, 62, of Hokes Bluff, went through Capitol doors broken by others and remained inside the building for 15 minutes, according to evidence presented at his trial. He later posted videos and photos taken inside the Capitol on social media.

Alford, who owns a body shop in Etowah County, was found guilty of four charges in federal court in Washington, D.C.: entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.

When the Alabama man was interviewed at his business by FBI agents on Jan. 20, 2021, he told the agents, “I wondered when y’all were going to show up. Guess you’ve seen the videos on my Facebook page,” prosecutors said.Alford is set to be sentenced on Jan. 23, 2023, and faces up to three years in prison.
