I’m super excited to watch it. Billy from the streets has come a long way. He’s hilarious so I hope the movies dialog lives up to it.
Give me a break…we didn’t come because we are homophobic, we didn’t come because it was Billy. Instead of whining he should find some people who actually liked his move. Of which I bet is just a handful. Straight people get crucified if we blame gays. But he doesn’t?!!🤔
Maybe blame the marketing. The trailer makes this movie look quickly forgettable, like any silly one-off rom-com. And it’s coming at a time when people’s $ is stretched super-thin anyway so they know they can wait to catch this shortly on any number of streaming services.
go woke and go broke ,the vast majority of people are not gay ,have no interest in gay issues ,its the cop out standard now for a poorly made ,ideology driven movie/tv show that tanks because its so easy to blame racism and homophobia rather than creating worthwhile content
How to reduce your audience: -Pick a genre whose heyday was 30 years ago -Frame seeing the film as a partisan political statement -Cringe marketing campaign with Paul Rudd (who isn't in the film) -Blame the sexual orientation of 95% of the population for your lousy box office

The 'we did poorly because of homophobia' press release was surely pre-written before the movie opened. The only thing wrong with this movie was its budget, which exceeded what it ought have for this niche film. Meanwhile, the highly diversely cast Smile did quite well.
The characters in the trailer sounded like an obnoxious twitter thread come to life. And not an interesting one. I think it’s off putting for many regardless of where one lands on the Kinsey scale.

Box office isn’t everything. I think the marketing sucked, especially as a comedy. Really competive movie market. Other well marketed “gay” movies have done fine.

Middle of September probably would have given Bros a better chance to stay above water. Smile crushed expectations and will probably continue to do it until Halloween Kills is released.

Probably not the best time of the year to release it. This is October, horror films are what people want to see. That’s why “Smile” did well. Might have done better probably in June.

The rom com is out of favour.
Not for nothing, but having an ageist joke in your film's trailer that isn't very funny in the first place ('it's like they injected steroids into Dumbledore!'), didn't exactly lead to increased ticket sales. I'm sure Bros is quite good, but it didn't flop because of homophobia
