The Opposition Leader and Defence Minister took swipes at each other's respective parties during a live television discussion about Australia's gas market as household bills are expected to rise.

Australians are expected to continue to pay more for gas, despite the federal government striking a deal with producers.However, despite the deal, Resources Minister Madeleine King said it was unlikely Australia would see gas prices at what they were before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Today host Karl Stefanovic wondered when the Albanese Government would have renewables at a level where they can safely sustain supply to Australia. "Madeline King's efforts with the gas market is trying to do something about the east coast...after a decade of the Liberals being in office...we don't have a functional gas market."

Mr Dutton weighed in on the debate, saying people"will grow tired" of the Labor government claiming it was"the other mob's fault". "Everybody wants renewables in the system, that's fine but the question is how you firm them up and the cost associated with that. That's either through coal or gas.
