The first look at Bob Odenkirk's new show, Straight Man, has arrived. Previously known for his sketch comedy series, Mr. Show with Bob and David, Odenkirk made his debut as the shady lawyer, Saul Goodman, in Breaking Bad season 2 and surprised audiences with his knack for dramatic acting combined with his signature comedic flair.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Premiering on AMC in 2015, Better Call Saul followed Odenkirk's titular lawyer from his humble beginnings as Jimmy McGill to the criminal lawyer who helped mastermind Walter White's meth empire in Breaking Bad. During production of Better Call Saul season 6, Odenkirk suffered a near-fatal heart attack. Thankfully, he was able to make a full recovery and resume filming five weeks later.
5 Images Close Straight Man Will Be Different Than Better Call Saul Based on what was already known about the show coupled with what these first-look images reveal, it appears Straight Man will be very different from Better Call Saul. For starters, Odenkirk's new show is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo, as opposed to Breaking Bad and Better Saul which were originally written for the screen.
The title itself, Straight Man, indicates that Odenkirk's titular character will behave much more ethically in the series as he undergoes a mid-life crisis, as opposed to his unscrupulous attorney, Saul Goodman. The first-look images also reveal Hank's wife and daughter, indicating the show will revolve more around family dynamics, which was never really a focus for Saul's storyline during his short-lived marriage to Kim Wexler.
