A woman has been critically injured in a ride incident at the Melbourne Royal Show on Sunday afternoon.
Ambulance Victoria treated the woman on scene for head injuries before transferring the 20-year-old to hospital. Vision from the scene also shows staff carrying out works on a rollercoaster that appears to have stopped. The Melbourne Royal Show issued a statement late Sunday confirming the woman was injured on the Rebel Coaster ride.
“We are working closely with the ride operator, WorkSafe Victoria and Victoria Police to investigate the issue further; however, we can confirm that no one has fallen from the ride.”One show attendee, Nathan Sandars, said he had recently left the show-bag pavilion when he saw out of the corner of his eye something fall and heard screams.
Terribly sad. The same ride my 14 year old came home and told me had no storage for loose items and no safety checks on seats or anything by young, inexperienced ride operators. Tragic
FFS - It is the 'Royal Melbourne Show.' It has been for over 100 years. Who is behind the name change? Why? I suspect the 'Royal' part of the name will disappear soon.
