Hocus Pocus creator David Kirschner reveals that he has an idea for a television spin-off series set in Salem inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The 1993 Disney cult classic starred Bette Middler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker as a trio of witches resurrected in 1993 Salem. Kirschner returns as an executive producer for Hocus Pocus 2, which is set to release on Disney+ on September 30th, 2022.

The producer and writer explained that his idea would explore the supernatural forces below Salem in style similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer's episodic structure.
