Posted: Sep 01, 2022 10:03 AM ET | Last Updated: 7 hours agoThe issue of active military service for the band's seven members has been a hot-button topic in South Korea because its oldest member, Jin, faces enlistment in December, when he turns 30.

After his comments created a stir, his ministry clarified in a statement that Lee ordered officials to examine whether such a survey is needed, rather than launch it immediately. The ministry said the results would be only one of the many factors determining BTS members' military status. By law, all able-bodied men in South Korea must serve 18 to 21 months in the military under a conscription system established to deal with threats from rival North Korea. But the country gives exemption to athletes, classical and traditional musicians and ballet and other dancers who win top places in certain competitions because they are considered to have enhanced national prestige.

They should all put out on the front lines with North Korea!

I’m old enough to remember when being called a band meant that at last some of it’s members played instruments.

This is an attempt by CBC to normalize forced participation in military adventures.

CBC lol

I hope they’re not exempt. The world needs a break from that garbage.

In all likelihood, just like when Elvis went in2 the US military, these guys will have soft duty entertaining the brass & touring bases 2 entertain the troops. No biggie. Just as long as they don't get fat, wear white jumpsuits, eat fried PB, banana & bacon sammiches & shoot TVs

Let them sing at the North Korea border. Kim will surrender immediately. 😖

I’m sure the rest of the world will manage just fine without them for awhile. On the other hand, it would be interesting to see how South Korea might try to justify an exemption. So… who’s got pop corn?

This is a normal thing for some eastern countries. Do we really need to interfere for a boy band? No.

I’m not sure why they should be considered any different than any other person if that’s the law

It is my opinion that those responsible for the quackscenes, quackscene passports, and other mandates should be arrested and tried for manslaughter and maybe even murder. Enough time has passed where it is now undeniable.

I personally believe the quackscenes are causing myocarditis, pericarditis, seizures, paralysis, miscarriages, stillbirths, a wide range of other symptoms, and even death. I believe those who have taken the quackscenes shed and spread to others.

People are deeply enthralled in an endless campaign of indoctrination & mental incapacitation through inexhaustible psy-opted programming of govt & mass media. The subliminally programmed & aimlessly unaware are nothing more than tools void of self to be used as others see fit.

No, it's called doing your patriotic duty, A concept that western liberal media and its followers will never understand.
