Province to Adopt 9-8-8 Mental Health Line, 10-Digit Dialing

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has announced that it will adopt 9-8-8 as the number to call for Canadians in need of immediate mental health crisis and suicide prevention intervention.

That means that 10-digit dialing will need to be introduced in Newfoundland and Labrador in order for 9-8-8 to function across Canada.The CRTC requires service providers to complete the transition to 10-digit dialing in Newfoundland and Labrador and other jurisdictions by May 31 of 2023.

Is there anyone there to even answer the damn phones is the first question I'd have to ask?

Going to need Mental Health Line to put up with 10-digit dialing.

We would not need Mental Health Lines if our Governments were not so corrupt! True story!

I bet none of this is confidential and private. If police are involved then you all may want to forget it or else, you'll have nightmares and be scarred for life. RNC isn't trained for anything mental health, sad to say.

If the government can create and waste taxpayers' money on the useless vaccine passport then they can make an application for mental health for anyone who needs to use it for free.

Make a free application for people on low income to use or online service. Not everyone will have a phone to use. Why does it take a long time to get hold of someone on 811?

Who will be answering the 988 mental health line?

I doubt the liberal government has the ability to successfully implement anything at this point,and that goes for federal or provincial liberals.

It was only in May that the province added the mental health crisis line to 811 ?
