CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Netflix has released the first trailer for “White Noise,” the upcoming film directed by Noah Baumbach and starring his “Marriage Story” lead actor Adam Driver.

The movie spent nearly six months in Northeast Ohio last year, shooting scenes in downtown Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, Wellington, Canton and on the campuses of Oberlin and Baldwin Wallace, among other places. That might be difficult to detect, however, as there are no instantly identifiable landmarks in the brief one-minute teaser.

Based on the book by Don DeLillo, the film focuses on a college professor , his wife and their children who are evacuated from their idyllic midwestern town when a train accident sparks an airborne toxic event.

The film, which also stars Don Cheadle, Raffey Cassidy, Sam Nivola, May Nivola and Jodie Turner-Smith, will have its next week. Netflix hasn’t announced a specific release date in the U.S. yet, but it’s expected the movie will premiere in theaters and on its streaming service in time for awards season.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
