Batgirl, an already shot superhero movie intended to be part of the DC Extended Universe, has had its release date cancelled.Reportedly costing $90 million to make, the Warner Bros film was set to star Leslie Grace as the title character, alongside Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly.Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah , the movie would have also seen the return of Michael Keaton as Batman and J.K. Simmons as James Gordon.
“The decision to not release Batgirl reflects our leadership’s strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max," a Warner Bros. Picture spokesperson said in a statement. "Leslie Grace is an incredibly talented actor and this decision is not a reflection of her performance... We hope to collaborate with everyone again in the near future."Batgirl was made specifically to be released on HBO Max, the streaming service owned by Warner Bros.
