Beyoncé says she will remove an ableist slur from her new album, 'Renaissance,' after facing online backlash and criticism

Beyoncé says she will remove an ableist slur from her new album,"Renaissance," after facing online backlash and criticism from disability campaigners.

The 40-year-old singer received rave reviews when she debuted her dance-inspired seventh studio album on Friday, but she came under fire over the weekend when fans noticed the inclusion of a derogatory term in the song"Heated."On the track, co-written by Drake, Beyoncé sings the line:"Spazzin' on that ass, spazz on that ass."Beyoncé's seventh studio album,"Renaissance," was released on July 29.

Beyoncé's single dubbed anthem for 'Great Resignation' 03:41She said her"intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.

You know as someone with epilepsy (and an alcoholic due to immense amounts of trauma and anxiety), I wonder when people will call out what they ACTUALLY know is bad. But no you don’t call that out nor do you call out the “b****es” and “h**es garbage. You people make me sick.

Who cares not me

From what I've read of her latest album, she's a great artist entering the autumn of her greatness.

Rap music has some slurs. But its fine. I guess Beyonce is white enough for the word spaz coming from her to freak out people.

Would it have been seen as a slur if she had used spasm instead of spazz?

Don’t be a spaz.

😂😂😂😂

Ridiculous

Most of the lyrics are narcissistic filled filth. The cover is disturbing and tasteless. Beyonce’s music has become gross.

🤣

Wait…for saying “spazzin”? I don’t know man I didn’t even know that was related to cerebral palsy until reading this. Not a word I use I guess but not one I would have had second thoughts about? I’m not saying the right is right but, jesus man, give me a break.

snowflakes

So the word was 'spaz' And if so when the hell did that become a bad word?

That song is ass

People are becoming hypersensitive……chill out ffs.

People are too damn sensitive nowadays

People are too damn sensitive. Spazz is not a slur.

Did you ever think we’d get to a place where Beyoncé would bow to the will of people who don’t exist? An ableist slur? What a retarded thing to be mad about

Removed from the Album......But still in the Line of Thought....

Pro tip. Ignore the backlash for one news cycle and it all goes away.

My brother has cerebral palsy and I had no idea spaz was an albeist slur. Learn something new every day
