Pat Spillane said an emotional goodbye to The Sunday Game this afternoon after 30 years on the programme.

"The next best thing in life is to be paid for talking about your hobby and talking about your passion and I've been privileged for 30 years to write about Gaelic Games and to talk about Gaelic Games in here with RTE. "Do you remember Dame Vera Lynn who had a song 'we'll meet again, don't know where and don't know when but I know we'll meet again some sunny day.'"

"We loved to hate you but I think we're going to miss you so I think there's a compliment in there somewhere.""That's a lovely gesture, that Dublin team they played football, they were brilliant," he responded.
