Singer/songwriter Juran moved from the Northern Territory to Sydney to work with a manager she had landed in the Harbour City. Then that manager stopped answering her calls.

When singer/songwriter Juran made the move to Sydney from a remote Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory, she had her sights set on building a career in the music industry."That was probably the main decider for us moving to Sydney."

"I've had to go get a retail job just to support my family because I had the expectation that I'd be working as soon as I got here," she said."I'm hungrier for it than ever before and I'm not going to accept that this is how it ends," she said. When Juran moved to Australia at the age of 18, WA was her initial home. It was here she met her husband.

As much as she loved living in these communities, Juran found it difficult to pursue her career as a musician locally.

How much does it cost the ABC to produce all these non-stories?

'I'm a huge believer in creating opportunities for myself and not waiting for others to give it, because that's not how it works in this industry”. That is how it works in life in general, not everything is gifted to you.
