Real reason: 'To trademark an original name (Warner Bros. still owns the trademark for “Quidditch”)' Changing the name doesn't change the content or the source.
Do people not see how ridiculous this is? The sport only exists because of the Harry Potter series. To disassociate the sport from the books, for any reason, will just mean the decline of the sport.

Honestly, they can do whatever they want with the name of the 'sport' they're playing because until they are literally flying in the air they are NOT playing Quidditch.
