The 1.75m-tall Edelyn, who inherited her Pan-Asian looks from her part-Dutch mum, is said to be releasing her debut albumAccording to reports, Edelyn has no intention of depending on her father, or anyone else for that matter, for help and so she used 30,000 yuan of her savings to fund her music career.When speaking to media, Edelyn said she doesn’t want others to think that celebs are richer than everyone else and that she is someone who"saves as much as [she] can".
Edelyn, who was studying in New York before returning to Taiwan for her music career, had to work part-time when she was in school. While her dad gave her an allowance then, she would also take on jazz piano gigs with her friends and would make about US$50 for a two to three hour performance. Apart from taking public transport and walking to school to save money, Edelyn would also buy marked down groceries that are expiring from supermarkets.
"When I'm in Taiwan, I would buy overripe bananas that have turned black 'cos they only cost TWD50 ," she added.So what advice did Pin Yuan giveAccording to Edelyn, her dad often finds opportunities to correct her manner of speaking.
