A deep dive into some of the most stunning shots of StrangerThings so far, courtesy of the Duffer brothers and their cinematographer.

We needed someone to give us a view into Henry/Vecna/One’s backstory. In what we called our Christmas Carol story line for this episode, Vecna is showing her everything that’s happened, and so she’s the audience’s view into this world. She basically is the audience for all of this. Natalia is the perfect person for this because she’s so expressive. She just holds the frame so well…. We have so many different looks and worlds within this season, and this shot actually blends the two.

Even in a shot like this where he’s floating, it’d be easy enough to do it CG—but that is Jamie hanging up in the air on wires. This was a very challenging day physically for Jamie, because we shot the bulk of the Vecna hanging scenes all in a day, or day and a half, for the entire season. Jamie was up and down in this harness all day. He liked us playing music on set. So we were playing, almost for all of these scenes, either the
