Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has said his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike was the preferred vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.According to Ortom, 14 out of 17 members of a committee set up by the party to guide the presidential candidate had preferred Wike.

When we continue to say RUNNING MATE, we undermine the fact that we are talking about VICE PRESIDENCY. Atiku is supposed to be very comfortable with him vice. So it's beyond running mate.
Last election I supported Atiku as if my life depends on it...later I found Atiku is still a committed APC member. His aim is the destabilize PDP just to ensure that APC keeps winning election v
Ortom should dead this narrative. Its too late to cry. Wike cannot be a second class citizen. U can't betray him and still want to use him for your self centeredness. Better he stays neutral than involving him in what's not going to profit him anything.
Most of us wanted this because Wike, for all his attitude, he is a dogged fighter and he successfully broke APC in Rivers. He also was the runner up in the selection process even from the north despite being a southerner. But we also understand that his reach is not beyond Rivers
Whatever is happening in PDP today is d cause of Atiku & his advisers: 1. He abandoned a popular Wike for a relatively unpopular running mate. 2. Since his VP pick, he hasn't personally reached out to Wike. Honestly, the PDP fortunes have slowed down since Atiku rejected Wike
