A Fredericton cab driver became a bit of an online sensation after photos posted to social media show him trying to rescue dozens of eels from a hot sidewalk.

"Loose Snake Guy" made the rounds on Fredericton social media Monday.

"I saw what I thought was a snake, because in one of the photos I posted, it's standing up," said Lawrence. "That's when I looked a bit more to my left, more the entrance way to the Hilltop restaurant, and I saw what looked like two dozen of them." "THERE IS A GUY ON PROSPECT STREET PICKING UP A BUNCH OF LOOSE SNAKES!?!?!?!" Lawrence posted on Facebook, attaching four photos of the man desperately trying to wrangle the creatures.

"Suddenly, I realized that something is moving," said Pourazam. "[I went] 'Oh what is that? Is that snakes?'"Pourazam ran back to his cab, grabbed the small container he normally uses for road salt, and filled it with water from his water bottle.
