Hours after news of the shooting broke, McConaughey addressed the shooting on Twitter, saying it was time for the country to try and resolve the tension surrounding gun violence and gun rights. “We cannot exhale once again, make excuses, and accept these tragic realities as the status quo,” McConaughey wrote. “This is an epidemic we can control, and whichever side of the aisle we may stand on, we all know we can do better. We must do better.”
