that I find it harder to overlook its flaws, but it didn't have quite the emotional hold on me that it so clearly did for many others.
Still, just because it isn't life-changing or mind-blowing doesn't mean that it isn't still really damn good. Sure, some of the supporting characters are rather thinly drawn, and the romantic subplot with the always lovely and wonderfully talented Jennifer Connelly feels somewhat tacked on. Yes, its threadbare plot is as predictable as it comes, and it's hardly a film with a whopping amount to say.

And he has seldom been better than he is here as he brings the movie-star charisma, physical prowess and intensity of Ethan Hunt but marries that with some excellent, subtler acting as the frequently arrogant Maverick is forced to confront losses and regrets, both old and new.
